Women's Ministry at First Baptist Church

Bertha Smith WOM
This group meets in the different homes of their members at 2:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. At the present time this group feels led by God to give toward one of the groups going to Haiti. All of their money at present is going toward this project. They have been able to supply funds for the wells, housing and miscellaneous items in Ranquitte, Haiti. As a group they have bagged beans and rice, which are given to families in Haiti. Each monthly meeting is a Bible study.

Bogie Brown WOM
This group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in member's homes. The president is Vicki Sparks and the members are of various ages. To be a more "action focused" mission group is their purpose. They like to do hands on projects when possible. Some of these include meals for the Hispanic community, Bluegrass Community Action and numerous other projects. New members are always welcome, and they would like for you to be a part of their group.

Ministry for Women Leigh WOM

This group was named after Virginia Leigh, wife of FBC minister Odell Leigh and formed in March of 1991. They meet the second Saturday of each month in member's homes at 10:30 a.m. Their outreach includes weeklv visits to Dr. Baeker's office with baked goods and Bible verses of hope for the patients going through chemotherapy. Providing meals through the Association for our local Hispanic ministry is another project as well as supporting our church missions and mission emphasizes of the Association.

Lottie Moon WOM

Bernice Johnson is the president of this group that meets in the church fellowship hall on the first Tuesday of the month at 2:00 p.m. The current eight members focus on mission activities. Their purpose is to provide mission support of prayers and monetary aid. Each month they participate in a different mission outreach program. These range from the Pregnancy Resource Center, Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, Christian Children's Home, and many local organizations.

Why does this ministry exist?
Women on Mission enables women to:

- Recognize their status in Christ
- Find an entry point to fulfill Christ's purpose in their lives regardless of their levels of spiritual maturity
- Reflect the highest ideals of Christian living
- See their lives as set apart for the gospel
- Affirm God's call, both individually and corporately
- Reach beyond themselves to a global vision
- Commit to a missions lifestyle, which engenders enthusiasm and joy because it is rewarding.
