What We Believe

The Bible

The Bible is the infallible, authoritative Word of God. It is divinely inspired and given to us to reveal God's plan for salvation through Jesus Christ and to guide us as we live out His purpose on earth.

Worship

Through worship, we receive the strength to bring honor and glory to God, to serve Him, and one another.

Evangelism and Discipleship

It is the duty of every follower of Christ to share the gospel of salvation with the lost. We are called to verbally witness and live a Christ -like life. FBC is committed to helping believers grow in their walk with Christ follow the command of Christ and "make disciples of all nations."- Matthew 28:19-20.

Ministry and Fellowship

As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we are to work together in ministry and fellowship to help others find their way. As a family of God, we spend time together learning to love and serve one another in Christ.

Our Vision

To follow Christ's lead of bringing people in, building them up and sending them out by using biblical examples of dynamic worship, innovative teaching and building meaningful relationships through small groups.

What is a Christian?

By definition a Christian is a repentant believer in Jesus Christ—the Son of God who came in the flesh, died, and was resurrected.

The central theme of the New Testament is God's love for you as an individual. This love was revealed through Christ's coming into the world and living among men, his dying on the cross, and his rising from the dead. Through Christ's death, God offers you forgiveness for your sins and through his resurrection, the promise of everlasting life. Christ died and rose again for the whole world, but for you to become a Christian is an individual matter. The only way to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is to accept his offer of forgiveness and everlasting life. The following Scripture passages show God's part and yours. Read each verse and believe it, for it is the word of God speaking to you.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"
—John 3:16

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
—Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
—Romans 6:23

How to Become a

member of  FBC

1. Accept Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord.

2. Become a member of this church by:

  • Baptism - if you are making a profession of faith or if you are coming into our fellowship from another denomination that does not hold our beliefs about salvation, the eternal security of the believer and/or baptism. This decision requires your statement that you have already received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

  • Letter - if you are transferring your membership from another Baptist church.

  • Statement - attesting to your faith in Christ and your baptism by immersion after salvation into a church of like faith.

A minister of First
Baptist Church will be pleased to meet with you personally to discuss more about membership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the church handicap accessible?
Yes, we have designated handicap parking and the entire church is located on ground level.

What should I wear?
Some people come dressed in their Sunday best. Others dress more casually. Either way, we believe that God cares more about the state of our hearts than the state of our attire, and encourage you to dress the way that feels most appropriate to you.

Is childcare available?
Childcare is available during our Sunday service. Sunday School programs are offered on Sundays for all ages. Toon Town Island Children's Church for K-5th grade and nursery is available during the 10:45 worship time.

Does your church offer transportation?

Yes. We have two vans that we use to transport individuals to and from church. The van will pick you up in time to attend Sunday School and will take you home within 15 minutes of the close of the morning services. Those needing a ride must call the church to schedule a pick up.

What happens during Sunday worship service?
You can expect a time of congregational worship led by our praise band, a time of prayer and scripture reading, followed by a Biblically based message from our pastor.
